Overview
LTISim (“we,” “us”) provides AI-powered simulation and assessment assignments that institutions deliver to learners through their learning management system (LMS) using the LTI 1.3 standard. This policy describes what information we handle in two distinct contexts: visitors to this website (ltisim.com), and users of the LTISim product launched from an institution’s LMS.
When LTISim is used by an educational institution, we process learner data on the institution’s behalf and under its direction. Institution-specific data processing agreements supplement and, where they conflict, supersede this policy.
Information we collect on this website
Contact form. If you submit the partner inquiry form, we receive the name, email address, organization, role, and message you provide, and we use them solely to respond to your inquiry.
Interactive demo. Messages you type into the landing-page demo are sent to our server to generate the AI response and are not stored after the response is returned. The demo conversation lives only in your browser and is discarded when you leave the page.
We do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers on this website.
Information we process in the LTISim product
When a learner or instructor launches LTISim from their institution’s LMS, we process:
- Profile information provided by the LMS — name, email address, LTI user identifier, and course role. LTISim has no accounts or passwords of its own; authentication is handled entirely by the institution’s LMS through signed LTI 1.3 launches.
- Course context — course name and identifier, used to scope what each user can see.
- Assignment content and activity — instructor-authored assignment configurations, learner conversation transcripts, AI-generated evaluations and feedback, and grades submitted back to the LMS gradebook.
This data is used only to operate the product: running simulations, generating evaluations, supporting instructor review, and passing grades back to the LMS. We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or use learner content to train AI models.
AI processing
Conversations and evaluations are generated using Anthropic Claude models accessed through AWS Bedrock, processed in the United States on AWS infrastructure. Under the applicable service terms, conversation data sent to these services is not used to train AI models.
Data isolation, retention, and deletion
Each institution’s data is isolated: users from one institution cannot access another institution’s data, and within an institution, data is scoped by course and role. Learner transcripts are visible to the learner and to instructors of the same course.
We retain product data for as long as the institution’s engagement is active or as its agreement specifies. Institutions may request a complete export of their data (JSON) or deletion of their data at any time by contacting us.
FERPA
For U.S. institutions subject to FERPA, LTISim operates as a school official with a legitimate educational interest, processing education records only as directed by the institution and only for the purposes described here. We do not redisclose education records except as directed by the institution or required by law.
Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). LTI launches are verified with public-key cryptography. The application database is not exposed to the internet. See our Security page for more detail.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy as the product evolves and revise the date above when we do. Questions or requests (including data export or deletion) can be sent to privacy@ltisim.com.
